US elimination form the World Cup and Celtics off season.

In my opinion the U.S. was eliminated from the World cup to early. Yes, they did win their group and advanced to the round of 16 but that was not enough for me. This was a better team than in 2006. They were younger, faster, and had players with skill. The reason why they were eliminated was coincidentally the same reason they were eliminated in 2006. Simply put they coach put the wrong players on the field. Ricardo Clark and Robbie Finley should not have started that game against Ghana. Both were subbed out before the second half even started, Clark after turning the ball over that resulted in a goal for Ghana and a yellow card. Robbie Finley was subbed out because he was ineffective as a striker probably because of is inexperience. Those were two subs wasted that did not need to happen. mistakes like that are inexcusable at that stage of the World up. When Maurice Edu was put in the game the U.S. played well, that is enough for me to have him start. As for striker I would personally want Hercules Gomez to start because he is a goal scorer which the U.S. desperately needed.

Now The Celtics, oh God my beloved Celtics how you hurt me so. That Game 7 lost to the Lakers hurt so much. Not only because it was the Lakers but that we were winning the whole game and lost it in the end. The old cliche rings true " so close yet so far." OK, so what to do this off season? My ideas are as follows: Paul Pierce will accept his Player Option or opt out and sign a multi-year deal, attempt to resign Ray Allen for the right price, sign Tony Allen, then use the mid-level exemption to either get a good player or two good players. Pretty much my ideas is to regroup and make another run at the championship. That is the best way to go. The other way is to start a new rebuilding process which the fans and current players do not want.

Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

So the Celtics are in the NBA finals and I cannot be happier. Being in the finals 2 out of the last 3 seasons is something really special and has not been scene by Celtics fans in a long time. Being the Celtic fan that I am I say they are going to win. But I am not so naive that I will underestimate the Lakers. The Celtics are going to have to play their best basketball in order for them to win the championship. Their success will depend on the health of Rajon Rondo. He is a huge factor in how they operate now and he can literally take over the game. Hopefully he will be healthy for Game 1.
